My initial reaction to the ad was i didn't really understand what they the advertisers where trying to say. The "In Our opinion Darwin was a Runner" ad the title was drew me to read the text. I really don't like this ad campaign at all, it's all about putting runners on a pedestal. Its like an ad for runners to feel better about themselves.

I am not a runner. My knees are so bad i can't without my swelling up and hurting for the rest of the day. That's why i really don't like this ad. It feels almost like they're bragging, that is how the ad makes me feel.

The text in the ads all try to be little people who don't run, like in the "Take a Look at any School Playground. See Anyone Jogging". The last line of the text was what made my blood boil, it says that running is dangerous and it makes people nervous and it says "And you know what, as runners, we are okay with that. it makes runners feel like there in their own little club. The layout on almost every page is visual persuasion with text and a picture. The pictures themselves are not very powerful but the pictures with the text makes a good ad.

the obvious message is to run, be fit, and push yourself.

I believe that the ads are a detrimen. Joggers and runners do the samething, the go out and are doing more than walking fast, they're in stride. The both use the same type of shoes so the advertisers should not segergate the two markets. They spilt their tarket market into two groups, by doing this they cut their potential costumers in half.

To me the strongest appeal is logic in the first ad. I chose logic because it makes a decent arguement. I just think about all the crime shows i watch and the intros of the episodes. A large number of them start with a runner coming across someone's body.
To me the strongest appeal is pathos in the Reebok ad. As a football player almost all my life it shows a lot of character when your running sprints until you puke rinse your mouth and keep running. It shows the person's tuffness. Puking is the bodies line, when you keep running after puking that's you pushing your body and mind past the limit. i connect with that in the ad and that builds an emotional bond with me.

I have to go with the Reebok ad. The Reebok ad would do better in a magazine ad because its not targeted to either joggers or either just runners. Also i took marketing all four years in high school and i have to say the Reebok ads is a much better ad. The image catches my attention, the saying is short and sweet. The Reebok ad sticks in my mind better than the other one.
